    Traditional Java Dance

Javanese dance is the dances and art forms that were created and influenced by Javanese culture. Javanese dance movement is controlled, deliberate and refined. Javanese art often displays a finesse, and at the same time a serene composure which is elevated far above everything mundane.

Javanese dance has a rich tradition dating back to the influence of Indian culture on the island as far back as the 7th century. During this time the poetic epics "Mahabharata" and "Ramayana" were created, and they served as the basis for dances, poems, and art for centuries to come. While there were other influences in the following millennium such as Islam, indigenous rulers, and the arrival of Dutch colonialists from the west, it is still the stories of the heroes and villains of the two tales that are danced and sung in Javanese dance today.

    Legong Dance

The Legong Dance is one of Bali’s most visually alluring royal court performances. The dance is considered one of the island’s most revered classical pieces, known for its physically demanding postures and fast-paced movements which require a significant level of flexibility among its generally young female performers

Jember Fashion Carnival has no relation with the Christian pre-Lenten festival, but more of a festivities in general, roughly following the Brazilian style, with procession of dancers in extravagant costumes, with emphasis on the traditional Indonesian motif. Generally, the carnival used world-themed fashion or nature-inspired theme. Preparation was held extensively months before and participants volunteered for the event.
